Pack Smart for Any Vacation

Airlines and airport security are setting stricter guidelines about what items can be brought aboard an airplane. Liquids and gels are restricted to 3oz containers, and storage space for luggage that is carried on is becoming more limited. However, most commercial airlines also require a fee for any bags that are checked, so that can get very expensive. When packing a bag for a fun and exciting trip, worrying about how to pack for vacation should be the last thing on a traveler’s mind.

Fashion-conscious individuals may feel that there simply isn’t enough space to pack enough items of clothing for the trip and fit it all into a suitcase. However, there are multi-functional clothes such as skirts and blouses that can be dressed up or down, depending on the function. Those traveling for business can pack one suit with multiple shirts or ties to change up the look without overtaking too much space.

Those traveling for pleasure can base their wardrobe on the climate and location of the vacation. Beach trips or cruises will require drastically different items than a ski vacation. Make sure when making a packing list to allow for each item of clothing to be worn at least once, preferably 2-3 times during the trip. This will maximize space by decreasing the number of items.

Making a list is a smart way to begin preparation for a trip. Many items can be forgotten, such as toiletries, chargers and batteries for electronics, and even swimwear and pajamas. These are often expensive to replace while on a vacation, so packing carefully is a great way to start off the trip right.

Take Your Pet on Vacation with You

If you’re one of those people that doesn’t go on vacation as much as you should because you are worried your pet will not get adequate care while you are gone, it’s time to look at vacationing in a different way. There are plenty of locations that are pet friendly and want you to bring your furry friend along for the trip. So, instead of staying home this summer, pack your bags and bring your pet with you. You’ll soon see how much fun a vacation can be with your pet in tow.

The first thing you need to do when planning a vacation away from home with your pet is to make sure you find pet friendly accommodations. This means that, in general, hotels and motels are out. You will need to stay in a campsite or find a vacation rental that allows pets. Camping is the ideal situation because your pets can spend plenty of time outdoors and enjoy themselves as much as you do.

Next, you need to make sure that everything you do will allow your pet to accompany you. This means you need to make sure the hiking trails you plan on taking allow pets and that the beaches you plan on visiting don’t mind if your pet comes with you. There are plenty of activities that you can do with your pet, and although most of them are outside, that’s probably what you were planning on doing anyway.

This year, let your pet come with you on vacation. Everyone will have a great time and you won’t have to worry about sending you pet off to a kennel or inconveniencing your friends with the care of your pet. Plus, your pet probably needs a vacation too. It can be boring staying at home all the time, especially if you don’t have the time to take him on as many walks as you’d like.
